PURPLE ORCHIDS

I remember purple orchids
given by beautiful men, tanned
their souls caught in mirrors
There were birds of paradise
delivered, from absent lovers

Perfect roses in crystal vases

their perfume lingering

in big empty rooms

Of all my fragrant memories

one took my breath away

A four year old boy

with a dandelion bouquet
