THIS IS WHERE A BRIDGE ONCE STOOD

There’s a chasm over sheer rock
a raging river no man can cross
a great divide between two forests
words can only gather moss
Throw a stone you’ll throw a mile
remembering only you once could
cross the vastness, only echoes
This is where a bridge once stood
I can’t rebuild it but I remember
all was well, my life was good
Now I stand here, my heart an island
This is where a bridge once stood
